Experienced and Trusted Elder Law Attorneys in Colorado

Providing Sound Counsel for Families in the Denver Metro Area

Elder Law/Estate Planning As loved ones age and everyday tasks become more difficult for them, it may be necessary for family members to consider options for long-term care. Long-term care planning is especially important in situations where no prior estate planning has been done. At our Colorado law firm, Stutheit & Gartland, P.C., we understand the anxiety, frustration and guilt you may be experiencing at this difficult time, and we want to help. Contact us for a initial interview to discuss your concerns.

Helping You Prepare for the Future Through Estate Planning

As experienced lawyers, we understand the importance of planning ahead. A comprehensive estate plan is there to speak for you in the event of incapacity, prolonged illness (resulting in long-term care) or death. Regardless of your financial status, estate planning is helpful, and can address your wishes for asset distribution, Medicare/Medicaid planning, estate administration, name a conservator or guardian and designate powers of attorney. Importantly, if you fail to make these important decisions ahead of time, the court will handle them after you are unable to.

If your family member has become unable to make decisions due to age, disability or illness, there are steps you can take to protect them from being the target of financial scams, elder abuse or predatory lending. These often include establishing power of attorney for day-to-day living (guardianships) or financial affairs (conservatorships).
